Western Connecticut State University

To better serve our college students at Western Connecticut State University the Dicoese of Bridgeport owns and operates our own Newman Center, located on 7 8th Ave in Danbury, CT.  It is conveniently located right across the street from the Newbury hall dormitory at the Midtown campus.

Historically, the Newman Center has provided weekly, free, homecooked meals for all WCSU students, a food pantry for those with food insecurity, and opportunities for daily Mass and Adoration and a regularly scheduled Sunday Mass for our college students.  It was also the “home base” for the WCSU Newman Club, where various weekly and monthly events were held including Bible studies, small groups, and men’s and women’s events.

Currently, as campus ministry efforts are being reoriented and refocused, many of these events and opportunities have gone away, however we are making efforts to restore the Newman Center to it’s rightful place as a “home away from home” for WCSU students, where they can once again receive the sacraments, find a quiet place to pray and study, and to form lifelong friendships with other students and Our Lord.
